Monthly Staff Profile

Name: Daniel Charles Masupe
NICK NAME: Dan
DATE OF BIRTH:
26/10/1972

HOW AND WHEN DID YOU BECOME A RANGER?

I started to work for Mashatu Game Reserve in 1992. I was working as a barman in the beginning, but began to take interest in all the birds in the birdbath and began reading books about birds and animals. I ended up becoming very interested in the bush and then became a ranger in 1995.

WHY DID YOU WANT TO BECOME A RANGER?

I wanted to become a ranger in order to share all I know about the bush with others. The other thing is that I enjoy meeting other people and sharing their knowledge about a variety of topics. I feel it is a good way to share our worlds.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST?

I enjoy EVERYTHING in the bush! Whatever comes out, I go for it.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST INTERESTING SIGHTING?

I do have some interesting stories from out in the bush. My favourite sighting was a yellow-billed kite that had caught a monitor lizard.
