SUGGESTED two night ITINERAry

Please note, the itinerary below is not cast in stone. Times are dependant on game viewing, weather conditions and the preference of all guests occupying a safari vehicle. The itinerary below is a guideline in terms of what to expect at Mashatu Game Reserve.

DAY 1:

• On arrival at the Limpopo Valley Airfield or Pont Drift Border Post, you will be met by a representative from Mashatu for your transfer to the camp in an open safari vehicle.
• After a warm welcome and check-in, you will be shown to your room to freshen up before meeting for a scrumptious high tea on the terrace overlooking the waterhole.
• It is then time to embark on your first game drive [16h00 summer and 15h30 winter]. Accompanied by experienced game rangers and trackers, you will get your first glimpse of the rich variety of game and the profusion of bird life that abounds in the area.
• At sunset, you will stop off in the bush for sundowners, and absorb the atmosphere of the bush as the sun sinks into the dusty horizon.
• As darkness approaches, the trackers will scan the bush with a powerful spotlight and point out the more elusive nocturnal wildlife.
• The safari vehicles return to camp [20h00 summer and 19h30 winter], allowing time to freshen up before meeting for pre-dinner drinks in the “Gin-Trap” bar.
• Dinner is served in the traditional open-air boma under a million stars, to the mesmerising sounds of night-time in Africa.
• The bar remains open after dinner.

DAY 2:

• An early morning call [05h30 summer and 06h00 winter] reveals a new day in Africa’s most exciting reserve. After a light snack, the early morning game drive begins. Explore a world teeming with the wonders of nature.
• On return to the camp a hearty brunch is served. Spend the morning relaxing by the pool, in the Discovery Room, or perhaps experiencing the bush on foot accompanied by your armed ranger.
• Following high tea in the late afternoon set out again in search of game.
• Return to camp for a delicious dinner. The companionship of your fellow guests and the Mashatu hospitality staff, together with the memories of your day’s game viewing will round off another perfect day at Mashatu before you fall into bed - tired but revitalised.

DAY 3:

• There is an early start for those who want to enjoy the morning game drive.
• On return to the camp, and after a quick brunch, it is time to check-out and say farewell to Mashatu. You will be transferred back to the Pont Drift Border Post or Limpopo Valley Airfield for your onward journey [at either 10h00 or 13h00].
