About ERIC: How did he become a ranger? “In 1997 after my O Levels I started at the Mashatu Main Camp as a barman. After a year I resigned and went back to school to further my studies. I returned to Mashatu in 2002 and started my career with the company as a professional guide”. Most memorable sighting/s? “My most memorable sighting must be when the Majale Island sub adults (lions) tried to attack a sub adult elephant bull with an injured ear. The ear was bleeding and the lions smelled the blood. The attack was unsuccessful and the bull ran off unhurt. But to watch them stalk this massive creature was impressive”. Conservation message “Driving off-road without reason causes unnecessary damage to the vegetation. Stick to the roads especially in our National Parks where thousands of people visit the Parks every year”. |
