MASHATU GAME RESERVE RESUMES WALKING TRAILS

Many a walking enthusiast will no doubt be delighted to learn that Mashatu Game Reserve has resumed their specialised walking trails. Rated as one of the most unique, diverse and exciting walking destinations, this massive tract of land is the ideal terrain to appreciate the wild, and for an unrivalled adventure experience.
Darran Myers holds a veritable collection of qualifications, and has gathered experiences far and wild when it comes to walking trails. He has been guiding for nearly fifteen years, including time spent in Natal, Eastern Cape and Zambia.
On his return to South Africa, Darran worked with some of the 5 star lodges within the Sabi Sand Reserve before joining SANParks as a daywalk trail guide based out of Orpen Camp and also filling in as a backup guide on Wilderness Trails. Anyone who understands walking will know that these are some of the most popular trails on the continent, and are often booked up 18 months in advance. Darran's rich CV culminated with experience within the Manyeleti Game Reserve before he joined ECO TRAINING as Head Guide Ranger. This enabled him to train in the Limpopo Province and Natal, as well as in the Masai Mara and Samburu Reserves in Kenya.
The last three years have seen Darran working as a freelance professional guide and trainer throughout South Africa and Botswana. He now holds Level 3 SKS FGASA Qualifications, and works as an assessor for them too. Over and above this, he also holds a Level 2 Tracker Qualification.
Why so passionate about Walking Trails? Says Darran, "I love the fact that on a walking trail the focus is more holistic than purely big game. Although many opportunities arise to view big game, the focus is on the little, often overlooked aspects of the bush - tracks, plants, insects, etc. I feel that a walking safari is an awakening of all the senses. You as a trailist are a part of the environment - not merely a spectator as you are on a drive. As a trail guide, my passion is in sharing this, and in reconnecting with our primal selves and the environment around us".
Walking Safaris at Mashatu Game Reserve will take place from Monday to Friday each week - departing on Monday and returning five days later. The four nights out in the wild are spent in Walking Trails Camps. Camps will be moved daily to ensure a fulfilling experience. For clients who are unable to spend the full period in the bush, the itinerary may be flexible to accommodate a minimum of 3-night stays.
Bookings already held will be honored.
